Is this yours? The flatness of the colouring can be addressed by continuing with layers.
Your main problem is dreadful composition, and non-existent perspective (the yard is going up into the sky). Don't end the muzzle where the posts end on the ground and the yard floor starts, it's a very jarring point in the prime area of the picture frame.
If you want to paint a horse, ditch the surrounding, most of your picture is the yard outside. Look at how Munnings painted horses.
