When you're practicing drawing from imagination, is it ok to just totally throw away observational drawing? I'm really just trying to get the shapes and planes down I'm seeing in perspective. I believe the observational part is more relevant once you get a good idea of the basic forms of the human body.

I've been drawing people from 3D software, and it's a great replacement for life drawing that I just can't get access to.

Does it get easier the more you draw the human figure? I never realized how horrible it is to draw from photographs until I gained access to 3D rotations of human beings. I can now learn everything about the human body without guessing and thinking and ultimately winding up with something that is totally off-mark.
