For good references look at Doré's illustrations for Dante's Divine Comedy (Inferno, etc), or there's a guy called Nico Delort who does modern commissions in the same kind of style and does it pretty damn well, pic related.

I just liked how comfy it is, and went well with song I was listening to and mood I was in. Normally I just find something pretty and try make it prettier/learn from it but The Art Spirit keeps rattling on about how it's all about the FEELS you're in while working, so gonna do that more.
