In order to capture some of the rendering more effectively, copy the line work with a bit more care. Especially if your aim will be to practice the refining/finishing stages of a piece. One thing to make it easier to judge your colors compared to the original piece is to make sure your backgrounds are the same. I almost thought the one you made was too light because of the background changing the context of the color. Your color choices are fine, but where you fail is in observing the finer rendering. For instance the hair circled in pic related has nuanced and subtle transitions of shape and color that you fail to capture in your render. Yours is too generalized still because you just finished the block-in stage. So your image is still quite flat by comparison to the ref. The drawing is accurate enough, but if you really want to check just trace over the major landmarks of your drawing and then scale the trace to your ref. You'll see what's out of place and what isn't. In this case, scale the trace to match the ref from the bottom of the chin to where the forehead meets the hair.
