Not everything is social media viable.
Only few things really make social media viable.
Want the most attention and money? Draw porn/lewd. Pander to porn addicts and underage kiddies that won't be able to resist sharing your work around.
Want mediocre success? Draw "islitterallyme" comics. Pander to normies and pseudo intellectuals who think mental illness makes them quirky and unique.
Want to get a job in the industry? Draw what your desired employer wants.
Put your work out there and actively reach out to the things you want.

You become better at visually expressing something through meanings or abstracts BUT it kills motivation to pursue. Even more if you can "distract" yourself.
Depression is usually a consequences of various realizations about yourself and the world you live in.
Art is even used in therapies, and "drawing what they feel" is usually the go to, because if they fully visualize their thoughts on paper/canvas, it becomes easier to tackle the issue. Result vary from person to person.
Of course, people who have been practicing the arts, will make better works.

Artwork's value is ALWAYS defined by their consumers, not the creator.
The average joe doesn't know or has ever experienced any trauma or has ever been depressed long enough to actually starting to dissociate and see things objectively.
That is why you have so many works who are just considered "weird" by normies because all they know is to consume, not actually about trying to understand what they see.
This mostly has to do with the cultural and intellectual decline of society and all that jazz.

Also, you'd have to either be an insecure kid or a skinwalker if you never drew something "weird"
