I can't recall much now, but maybe some of these might help, but some of them might not fit the whole fantasy+modern niche too much. Ross Tran did something similar I think. Michail Rakhmatullin, Moebius / Jean Giraud, Adrian Dadich, Maystrenko Konstantin..

My favourite would probably be Akira Toriyama. Kid me might like the power levels thing, but the world he creates for early Dragon Ball was drop dead gorgeous, personally. Sorry I can't help much.
