Maybe it's because your lines are very messy,or maybe it's because I'm blind, but it seems like the bottom of the chin to the abdominals is ignoring the 8 heads rule

TLDR I have someone watching my art club where I teach people the absolute basics of art, and I need help for teaching the human head.

Their standard of art is higher than mine. I can't find a universally accepted method of drawing the human head, something that if this person questioned, could be found online readily to make them go "Oh its fine".

Normally when I do the head I assemble using shapes, and consider the volume of each shape in assembling the head, similarly to Loomis.

Any infographs you can share? I'll dump mine, the first thing I teach is to use different parts of the body as relative measurements for drawing other parts, i.e the distance between the eyes is one eye, etc. etc.

Ah it's really basic you don't really need a book for it.

The loomis books often mention the 8 heads proportions ideal.

As for the 3d forms of the body, you can figure this out pretty easily by looking at pictures of humans, muscular people have more defined shapes so their easier.

The most important thing is that you draw alot, learn from your mistakes and you'll go forwards

Post art here on /ic/ for critiques and they'll point you in the right direction, for a few years I made my arms far too short until /ic/ pointed it out to me

His head + neck is pretty big compared to the rest of his body and the torso seems big compared to the hands. The hand outstretched is usually as big as the bottom of the chin to the hairline, though this depends on age

Well one problem is you're using straight measurements to measure a curved torso.

Also the head proportion thing can vary a little, some people have slightly shorter torsos or longer legs etc than others.

The "8 head" rule is a concept stating that if you were to use the head as a measurement for a man's whole body, an idealized man would be about 8 heads tall standing straight, and 8 heads wide (sitting the heads on their sides).

Here's the book this diagram came from and which the other guy had suggested. It's pretty good, but it helps to get a handle on construction first

http://www.placidchaos.com/Loomis/Andrew%20Loomis%20-%20Figure%20Drawing%20For%20All%20It's%20Worth.pdf

Reading the sticky will point you in the right direction and suggest other books and resources which will can tell you more about the concepts, etc etc.

If you're using 8 heads I hope you are compensating with width. Also torso seems longish, maybe. Keep note of the lengths of the individual parts and portions.
