Most of his exposure came from fanart. Bayonetta in a Zero Suit. Ryuko from Kill la Kill, Mikasa from Attack on Titan, and many others. He does more OC now, but when he was up and coming, gaining popularity, he was heavy on the fanart.

I don't hate his stuff either, but lets not pretend he didn't ride the fanart bandwagon to get where he is right now. He did.
