It's better to reference real people and try to convert those to anime boys instead of referencing straight from anime. Your proportions are off because by studying straight from anime you amplify and internalize the mistakes the artist may have made. Without knowledge of the human body, you also end up blindly copying lines without understanding why an artist may have made certain decisions. For help with proportions, studying morpho and drawing from life (photos, etc.) is a great start.

Paradoxically, the only way to develop an appealing anime style is to study anime artists you enjoy. So you have to study both anime artists and real human bodies to achieve peak anime boy singularity. I hope this doesn't sound discouraging because it's a lot of work but with the right balance, it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.
