I started drawing with a more realistic, comic-booky approach, and it helps when I try to draw anime/manga/whatever. For me, moe style is much more attractive and easy on the eyes, not to mention a bit easier (since you can just exaggerate features without having to pay too much heed to anatomy). To each their own I guess.
