Is it just me or have these threads taken a massive nosedive in the past 6-12 months? Remember when we did stuff like posting our old art or inspo and guessing which daddy it belonged to? Remember crit streams? Even trying to do anything positive for the thread seems pointless, because people go back to dramaposting and shitflinging again and again.

I think sketchbooks are a waste of money. I use stacks of cheap paper according to my needs, such as packs of 250 sheets of 210g/m paper (heavier than ordinary, good for ink), for watercolor I order large watercolor sheets and cut them up to the desired size by hand because it's cheaper. Also having such a huge volume of paper for less money allows you to draw freely without ever worrying about wasting it or running out. Look up local stores that you can order from, ideally straight from manufacturer.

The downside to what I do is they're all loose sheets, you can't show anybody your neat sketchbook. Well I guess you could bind your own or stick them in a folder with plastic sleeves afterwards, I do that every once in a while.

Is it better to focus on playing to your strengths or targetting and improving upon your weaknesses for DAIB?
