Do you zoom out to see the whole picture when you draw your lines?
Or do you zoom in really close and try to exactly trace lines from your sketch?
If you're doing the latter, you can try zooming in to sections, torso, breast, head, eye, hair, etc. and do them individually, or just ink at a zoom level where you can see the whole picture at once. You can also use a program with stabilizers or download plugins for them if your lines are wobbly.
You can also try to make thick lines and go back and erase parts of them. This only looks good with softer linework usually.

If you're rendering something really well, you almost won't need lineart on top. You can always erase it or paint on top of it with a new layer, or blend it into the shadows like the pic related. Any sort of hard edge you can define with a line, but softer ones you can afford to erase your lineart. As for coloring it, you can grab some of the dark values from your shadows and darken them more before coloring them. Since you're saying lock opacity, I'm assuming you're using SAI or the like, and you might want to use a clipping mask/layer instead so you can make adjustments more easily. You don't have to make all the lines dark though, you can have some be a defined highlight.
