again, only """modern art""" has the prerequisite of "knowing its history". You can appreciate good cartoons or realism just based on what they try to represent, history is a bonus, and you can shit on /beg/ trash without knowing anything about the artist's biography, history, etc, etc. BUT NOT WITH MODERN ART!
