gotcha. i'm not sure whether you're going for gesture or construction with these but my advice for construction is to try and draw the shapes of the things you're seeing. arms and legs are sets of connecting cylinders. feet and hands are flat boxes. head is a long sphere. you get the idea. everything is made of shapes. they are your building blocks. use them to construct your figure then go in for the detail work. i think you will see an immediate improvement in drawings like the one you posted!
