/beg threads are alright, only few anons told me to off myself so far. And every now and then random ic anons drops names of good art books.

Just make sure you dont fall for the loomis meme too soon. Loomis books assume you are already semi capable artist. You want to complete (at least one) of the beg books first like keys to drawing.

good luck!

Hello beg, today i am officially done with Nicolaides. Despite the extreme grind of seemingly pointless exercises involving doodles most of the time i rate the book as thumbs up. All said and done however i wouldn't recommend it to common BEGs at all. The book focuses mostly on the gesture and ignores all and any techniques. This book can definitely teach you how to speed up, line confidence, what it means when your picture is stiff or soulless and so on but none of this is relevant for prebegs nor begs. Its sort of book for higher begs. I am glad its over.

i dont know, i might end up doing these weird exercises one day, but to me it seems overkill since you will gain the eye-hand coordination anyway with enough drawing the other stuff. But what do i know, i just finished my 3rd art book, maybe this approach is more common than i think

if you cannot find hour or two for drawing every day i am afraid you will NGMI. Btw you dont have to practice at home, there are anons who draw on the go or at work. All you need is pencil and small sketchbook. Draw from reference simply what you see around

a drawing exercise can take anywhere from 30 seconds (gesture) to 10 hours (master study). dont measure "progress" by number of doodles, just make habit of putting in the hours daily. Btw you forgot to PYW!

its all same thing. In trad you have easier time making lines, on tablet you have easier life with layers and undo. Just pick one and draw

keys to drawing has like 4 pages about perspective. And then there are books like perspective made easy which has 200 pages (lmao) about it. There is also dynamic bible which deals with it while trying to level up your spatial awareness. Pick your poison
