There really isn't much midground in any of these compositions, and you're only doing these in one point perspective. A few things you could try : different angles, overlapping (e.g fish coils around her, tree foreground, maybe a shrine behind) establish the silhouette of her dress and hair, it might lend to an effective composition.

IMHO, only the bottom middle could somewhat be salvaged if you're going for a graphic look. Hair could be long and flowy, koi body needs more of a 's' shape flow, patterns and foliage for bg.

On a side note, I love your grainy brush. Would you be willing to share it?
