Stop frequenting /ic/ and listening to AI ghouls, stop engaging with AI discourse for a while, there is way too much fearmongering and actual demoralization attemps by sociopathic /g/iggers trying to drag you down to their level. Despite what they'd like you to believe, image gen isn't exponentially growing, it's quite close to stagnating after the massive 2022 improvements. When it "emulates a style" it does it extremely poorly, and after 6 months of this abortion of a tech existing, it still can only do pixiv pinups and nonsensical backgrounds effectively without heavy masturbation and tinkering behind the scenes. What AI cucks omit is that if AI takes over it's not because it gets better than every artist on earth, it's because it's "meh, good enough" for everyone to use over paying artists. Man I can kinda relate to that. I used to NEET and do jackshit but play video games and watch anime for years on end. Nowadays the majority of the time I'll start a game and I'll feel a crushing emptiness washing over me. I'll feel anxious if I sit there and consoom for too long kek.
Still I'm not jaded, still enjoy watching art or reading a lot and will play vidya occasionally and have fun.

Lots of easy, good books to get into. Hard part is actually sitting down and reading them. But like everything, just make a habit out of it. For me its started when I made a point to read 5 mins every day before sleeping, but I'd end up binge reading for hours.

It did actually challenge my outlook on art a little. Is art just a pretty picture? Then why do this machine vomit doesn't move me in the slightest? I'm not even disgusted at it or intrigued by some of the horrors it spit like some DeviantArt abominations did.

Reinforced this idea I entertained, that art is a form of communication. A natural rock can look beautiful, but I wouldn't call it art, it has nothing to say. Same deal with machine-made pictures. It doesn't say anything, it only manages to parody what was already the lowest, most derivative forms of art. I think this is what people mean when they say "Soulless", something that earnestly attempts to convey an idea, even without proper skills to back it up, is infinitely more powerful and resounding than anything a machine can make.

I'm not doubting her age, but how do we know for sure, that she didn't use reference for these images? Even the best artists have to use reference, Yusuke Murata, Ruan Jia, Craig Mullins, etc. All of them use reference in their work, whether it be for constructing buildings or people, or using dolls or real life reference, a lot of good artists use it.

tl;dr no shame in using reference, seeing as 99% of artists use it.
