daughter of a korean envoy, grew up in rural marlyand near a farming community so became a natural animal lover and very familiar with the outdoors. However her father's work moved the family to new york city and she found herself overwhelmed by the business of such a huge city. She sought her solace in books at the new york city library, where the shelves go on and on forever.
Finding herself enjoying reading she became a writer and joined a new york high school newspaper, where she made some enemies reporting on school sports teams for cheating competition. ending her high school career early after getting into a fight with a cheerleader.
Her father almost kicked her out. She decided to do her degree in Korea in a small rural town which was much more to her liking.
