I don't know what you're trying to say. Clarify what exactly is wrong with the stationary point + picture plane model of perspective projection that could possibly invalidate the maths behind perspective projection? The only flaw in the "illusion" is that there is only one stationary point even though people have 2 eyeballs. Also you mention distortion, you can get all kinds of distortion by just varying the distance between the stationary point and the picture plane, or even curving the picture plane.

pic related is a dodecahedron, are you suggesting that maths wouldn't have been used to render this image?
