if you're working at 24FPS, you could go all the way down to 4s [6FPS] for slower movements and the average viewer wouldn't even notice. for faster motions and high-paces scenes, it's probably best to go to 2s and 1s. for general character acting and dialogue, 2s, and 3s is alright in most cases, unless you're working with really wild acting and fast speaking.
