OK The gist of this picture is that there is a kingdom on the edge of a slowly advancing forest. The forest is owned by the witch and the kingdom can't fuck around in or around the forest without her consent. She communicates with the kingdom via leaving semi ambiguous messages on this weird shaped stump. Interpreting and cataloging these messages is the job of the cleric. He and the king and a few guards venture into the woods to this stump to collect the correspondence. But this time there is something grisly atop the stump, something horrifying. The cleric sinks to his knees and the king dismounts his horse and goes to investigate while the cleric begs him not to look.

At the bottom of the picture I want to have the roots and branches and shit resemble a human figure.

TLDR: I'm wondering what you all think of this composition. Is it boring? Is it too flat? I've been staring at it for too long.
