Because people on /ic/ want stuff that corresponds directly to the style they want and don't have the ability to mentally evolve styles different from their own into something unique (ie most classic and highly stylized illustrators drew huge amounts of inspiration from classical artists/old masters and despite their work looking nothing like it they drew their inspiration directly from them but had the insight to alternate it into something unique) look at many older european comic book illustrators for example, they draw most of their inspiration almost solely from old masters but understood that inspiration =/= copy and therefore made something unique from it, and the result was all the better for it. the issue with /ic/ is that so much of people's inspiration draws from extremely specific styles and they don't think to develop it. Everyone should take inspiration from the old masters because ultimately they are the best aestheticians on an objective level, learn to take inspiration from varied sources in vague ways and make something new from it. You'll only improve your art by doing so.
