I've been reading Nagatoro and I'm so blown away by the story. At first I thought it was just a cheap manga tailored towards the incel-hikkikomori male demographic but it became one of the most enchanting love stories I've ever read. I can't get over it.

commissions has nothing to do with your social skills, i can assure you that none of the replies about "social skills" got a commission ever. the only social skill you need is to be polite, saying hi, thanks, and shit like that.

now the important thing:

>skills
you need to have a certain ammount of knowledge in art to be able to get some bucks, commissioners are more worried of their characters being portrayed the way they want, and thats translate to good anatomy.

>fetishes
if you lack skill, you can always pander someone disgusting fetiches/kinks, is more easy to get money this way, but your soul drain faster.

>furries
aside from the meme that this is easy money, you need to be above the average artist, furries are more fussy than the average commissioner, even the smallest detail can trigger them into telling other people that you arent that good, this will slowly kill your "furry art carreer" so be carefull.

about pricing, start cheap, a range of 25-50 usd for a full pic is not bad. here is the trick i use to raise my prices. if you open commissions in social media or forums like /aco/.

if you get less than 5 commissions; low your price, is hard, but maybe your prices are too high for your actual skill.

if you get 6-11 commissions; your prices are good for your skill.

if you get 15+ commissions; the demand is too high, you need to raise your prices the next time you open comms.

now in general tips

>avoid mid-long term conversations with commissioners
these fuckers dont know when to shut up if you give them the chance, they will flood you with other people art of their ocs, or directly tell you lores about them longer than the lord of the rings story.

>payment upfront
do not let people fool you with promises, they pay or you dont start drawing, if they ask for rough sketchs to be sure both of you are on the same page, thats ok, but not over do that....

I like the way this artist draws noses but i have no clue what the shading on top of the noise is supposed to represent. It looks cool but I'm questioning if it actually makes any sense
