Not quite, but I almost did at first. I hated being broke for the first few years of really trying to make money, but I got the hang of it, many things 'clicked' and I adopted a more entrepreneurial / business mindset towards being a working artist, which has paid off well and I've been experiencing solid growth year after year. I feel more confident going forward and the future looks brighter every year.

There's nothing wrong with doing this, and I don't know why you're implying that there is. Nothing here is hypocritical or 'fake'. If you have a friend or someone you look up to who does something despicable, then it's completely reasonable to call them out on it, and understandable if you wanted to distance yourself from them.

No, they won't. His reputation as a freelance fantasy illustrator is very clearly tarnished. For you to suggest that he's somehow going to be just fine is just dumb. You also seem to be contradicting yourself - you said that many folks are turning against him (which they are), but you're also suggesting that his "friends" in the industry will have his back?

Remember that doing personal / private commissions off social media is for suckers. Commercial freelance illustration work is way, way more lucrative and the clients are much easier to work with (because they're professionals and generally not morons).
