>Because it can be integrated with a touchscreen and doesn't make the device thicker
EMR can be integrated with a touchscreen and doesn't make the device thicker. See any razor thin Samsung notebook. Are you being ridiculous in purpose?
Perhaps you're confused because Wacom intentionally restricts touch to some Cintiq models in order to have something to sell. Touchscreens are the cheapest damn thing in the world to make these days, and neither EMR nor ES are especially bulky. Seriously, what did you mean by this?
>all the board is concerned with is profit margins
If they are only concerned with margins, then why would they all start using a MORE EXPENSIVE technology? Why would they cut into their own margins for no benefit? Worse yet, for what you claim is a negative benefit?
How do you explain this paradox? How do you explain every major, publicly traded, and extremely profitable laptop company suddenly deciding to raise their own production costs all at the same time?
It isn't a "Cheaper POS" as you described. It's objectively more expensive, even if you have decided it's shittier.
Guess what? It's not shittier. The lack of cursor drift and lack of lag give it an edge over EMR tech, and this edge justifies their increased price.
In my experience, ES is better for art because it more naturally emulates traditional media. You don't have to adapt to the cursor drift, your pentip is your cursor. That alone is worth having to run Lazy Nezumi and not draw slow, 45° lines like a sloth in an intentional attempt to induce jitter.
