I’m an art dealer and you’d be surprised at the prices. Of course for a good painting you are expected to pay at least 1k but you often can get paintings from good enough artists to have a wikipedia page (I like saying that because your average normie just uses wikipedia) for not even 200 bucks.
I don’t have picture on me but last year I bought 4 fuckhuge panels depicting well-dressed people having an evening party in the garden (they were probably commissionned for a French mansion) for merely 1000 bucks. Found the signature and it was by this dude here https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Morin_(peintre)
Nothing big or crazy but enough references in books to make it credible.
But yeah it’s an almost full time commitment if you want to find good art at very decent prices.
