Why'd you delete it? It's looking pretty good, I made some contrast adjustments that I feel bring out the character more and puts more focus on the foreground. I'd watch your anatomy in the face and maybe the legs, he chin looks really big and her legs may be a little too long, and watch how her feet rest on the stairs as it can be a little confusing.

A second light source would let you add more atmosphere and darkness to the piece without sacrificing character shape. One thing that you need to do is make sure it's clear what he's doing, is he throwing or catching? The relatively neutral hand position and the chain make it feel like he is catching it to me, a more over hand or dynamic hand position would help a lot.
