Has anyone ever copied an entire artbook from specific artists, and got gud from that?

The path of improvement can be very lonely, remember that you cannot take anyone with you. If you have an artist friend then at some point you will grow apart your ambition might be lower then theirs or theirs might be lower than yours. This is a journey you must take alone.

I had similar experience, and now I am trying to draw from my imagination as much as I can, but I cant help to wonder how much real life drawings, imagination drawings and studying from books I should do? It sometimes feels like imagination drawings are enough, if I try to think how to make them better and compare it to others. Only time I need to see something irl or on picture is to learn how it looks like. And in books you only learn that there are some basics like form, gesture, light etc. and then you have to learn it by yourself anyway. Do you know what I mean?

Pic related, he only drew from imagination(I am not comparing myself to him)

just draw what you find interesting or exciting. maybe even subject matter you're very passionate about and how to translate that to art.

maybe even look back at the art that made you want to be an artist and figure out what about it moved you.

that's the key to being creative, drawing and painting what interests you and using artistic skill to share it with people.
