I tried another study of something from Iben Krutt, sort of on the other end of the colour spectrum. I think it turned out okay, but the actual portrait practically glows. not sure how they got that effect.

those videos are amazing man, thank you! the way it conceptualizes/explains greys and how to use them is a total eye opener, and that video on colour notes basically explains exactly what I was curious about before. makes me excited to get painting my own stuff

thanks man, that process gif helps a lot. helped remind me how much time and hard work goes into a painting too, you make it look easy so it's neat to see how many revisions get made along the way. I'll try working from greyscale too, seems like a good practice
