depends on the paintings tbphwyf. A lot of the year one stuff was painted with watered-down acrylic and shit.

no you can see that on "all the pieces" that didn't get a gesso layer. Which is a lot of them.

It didn't take hours. It just took longer than it needed to to get to the same point. AND AGAIN, AS ALWAYS, the point is that ANYBODY is capable of this. It isn't some magical skill only posessed by self-important anonymous animu kids that are desperate to validate themselves to themselvse but would rather talk about how special they are then demonstrate it.

Nothing needs to be "special." It just needs to be done.

And it's crazy how you think that basic draftsmanship IS "special." That's the first shit you learn before you're supposed to start branching out to different monetizable mediums and strategies that people would actually be interested in buying or soliciting your services for. Nobody cares about hand drawings.

you kind of don't. Dude nailed a knot on a wall and contrived some bullshit justification for it and sold that shit for tons of schmekels. Being super technically well-executed doesn't necessarily mean shit in the money laundering world of art.

Not that I "think I don't need to be good." I spend every day improving and experimenting and doing putting in work. I'm ok with something turning out looking shitty, and I'm ok with making and exhibiting mistakes.

I don't really care. I expect to do this until I get bored and hopefully I'll be able to use the work experience from this project as a means to get funding to work on other projects. I just care about being able to continue producing stuff, and attention and money is generally needed to pull that off.
