Its because they suffer from social media brain rot. They now have a chance of getting the same attention as actual artists, and ballooning their ego. Because AI art hasn't really affected normies yet, time will tell what will really happen but its not going anything if your are just a hobbyist who wants to draw for drawing.

A few years ago I was really good online friends with this girl from Romania. We skyped maybe 4 times a week and had multiple hour long skype conversations. We met initially thorough me buying a commission from her. Of course, as I became better friends with her I bought many, many more commissions from her. Her style just fit my characters so well.

Maybe 8 months in I decide that I wanted to get into drawing myself because I wanted to share a hobby together.

I told her this and asked her how she started drawing and what books she recommends.

Her response was:

"Anon, I just don't think you are cut out for art. You are good at many other things but I don't think you will ever be an artist like me. Some people just don't have the talent"

I just replied "Oh, yeah youre right haha"

after that conversation I really lost all interest in her and haven't talked much since.

Every time I procrastinate not practicing or not drawing I think back to her telling me what I can't do.

Its a retarded grudge to hold and im doubt she even remembers me anymore but thats my personal drive to git gud.

Relaxation = getting shit done.

Anxiety is a by product of motivation.

Give up on the idea of motivation.

If you see a penny in the floor and you reach to pick it up, that's as much motivation as you need to do art.

Don't let motivation become a poisonous belief.
