I feel pretty the same too anon. As much as informative hitokaku is, echoing on what you said on how rigid the structure is compared to drawing loose. Try thinking of this, the outlines showed in the book are like the banks of a river. You're trying to capture the flow of the river not the "bank", which is what gives the figure some lively gesture. What I found the most useful from this book is accurately picturing the "river bank" to visualize the flow of the "river". This advice was ripped straight out of Vilppu's video lecture on gesture, no wonder Proko said that it was his biggest source of improvement on his art when he was a college kid.
