If your end goal includes versatility- being able to draw a range of subjects in different styles pretty decently, is the best approach to heavily study building 3D form? Would the approach be to use construction to set you up to be able to use reference an an informed way, and to create new poses and subjects out of existing (but different) reference? I can see when operating at a high level in a more niche area how it could be easy to learn to memorize reference and work from well-learned ingrained material, but that doesn't seem as possible if you're doing a variety of comic work, for instance, with a lot of different poses, animals, objects, backgrounds. Same with switching between projects professionally and adopting different house styles for each.

What are the chances that someone managed to archive the old conceptart.org boards with the images intact?
Considering that it is one of the oldest internet forums with a lot of history, particularly art-related, and a lot of good people talking about good ideas and information, it seems like it would be a valuable thing to keep.
