If anything we have an example of the opposite with Johannes Voss who came here for a little while when Jana Schirmer dropped him and conceptart.org died. He tried to learn to stylize after refusing to do any stylization during his apprenticeship because it would "diminish his learning" and what he got was this shit.

Stylization is a fundamental skill of visual communication and design. You can't become worse at other fundamentals by learning stylization and you can't draw cartoons without learning stylization no matter how good you are at construction, anatomy and perspective.
