There's a challenge in LAS/DAD to draw five mechs with five pilots. My original plan was to pair up famous animated characters with mechs (like Taarna and the Black Knight here) even if they didn't come from the same show/movie. Turns out the rules of the challenge call for us to come up with new mechs and new pilots, so my "homage" idea isn't going to work out.

Because my original plan for fan art of existing mecha and/or pilots Stackpoled. But hey, I'm getting there! Finished my fifth pilot last night; now all I have to do are the mechs!

I don't think so - it doesn't say that in the rules for the mecha challenge.

You could submit drawings (including WIP) for your mecha challenge entries at other times and have them count towards your DAD streak, but only mark them for the mecha challenge if they are The Finished Product™. If you chose to submit all five finished entries on one day it should only bump your streak once, as "daily" is the maximum frequency value.

I've actually been drawing mecha (with pilots, or "attaches") lately; this is exactly the motivation I need to buckle down and get things done in a more timely fashion.
