They were smart enough to use their time when they weren't doing shit, because most of your teenage years are spent into void.
But there are artists that have managed to become great even in their thirties, you just have to do good practice, work on your weaknesses and know what is your goal.

I've made progress that was doable in several months easily, at least half a year if I wasn't fucking around. But I had university shit and did not have the willpower to dedicate myself properly.
I think the least we can do is admit our failures and at least plan a month or a year when we can fully dedicate ourselves to practice.

Starting to practice again, here is a fantasy portrait I did recently.
Going through loomis again to remind me some stuff and strengthen the basics, because without proper basics I basically have to resort to photoshop tricks to hide my shortcomings.
One of my major issues is controlling and understanding when to make the brush softer or harder, any advice on that?
