Actually you're spot on, I didn't know WHAT to draw, I just drew a soldier and I was gonna ask in /beg/ what else should I make for a composition but I figured it wasn't a proper question for the thread so I just continued without ideas, it really is lifeless. I like my sketch of the soldier though.
The background was a necessity and has no construction.

Can the soldier posing like that make for an interesting illustration or was I doomed from the start?
