I actually have improve quite a bit. You're either demonstrated that you're either disingenuous or you have no actual frame of reference with portrait painting.

A: I'm painting what I want to do.
B: You learn a lot about the mechanics of the face by painting people making weird faces. It's great practice imo to work on people cringing or frowning or furrowing or whatever.
C: When you paint goofy shit you typically invite less uppity criticism from people that understand art criticism. It's like making a comedy versus making a shakespeare drama.
D: By doing what I want, and by using intentionally "wrong" techniques with a shitty medium on shitty canvas and by "cheating" and being lazy with stuff I don't care about, and layering colors and scratching away I am creating a novel aesthetic that nobody else cares about doing as well as a sense of continuity and development in the series.

Saying "study some fundamentals" on /ic/ is the equivalent of saying "I don't really know much about art production or art criticism or 'the fundamentals' but I want to sound like I do."

Can you highlight a specific painting that you think is violating "the fundamentals" of acrylic portraiture and help walk me through how I could apply "the fundamentals" to improving it next time I work on it?

Like it's absolutely baffling to me how much you kids are just conditioned to think that "critique" is demanding people stop doing what they're doing. That's zero-sum faggot shit for unproductive losers. It's destructive. Means nothing to me and says a lot about who you are. Try thinking constructively. It's much better for your psychology.
