Not a problem, I remember what starting out is like. The thing about practicing the figure or gesture drawing isn't that at the end you put a stylised face over it, although I see where you got the idea as I've seen plenty of artists that do that. The idea is that if you learn to draw the figure accurately and well then you can stylise it in your own way while keeping it somewhat grounded in reality. It's hard for me to explain but the difference between an illustrator that draws a stylised figure that just looks awkward and broken and an illustrator that draws a stylised figure that looks good is that they first learn to understand how the human form actually works and manipulate and stylise it from there.

Over time you'll find yourself incorporating things you've observed in serious figure drawing practice into your stylised work to make the drawing make more sense anatomically in a way (even if the anatomy is somewhat altered from reality.)

As an example I've included a few basic gestures drawn out to give you a rough idea of what I mean. They're obviously not representational but none of them look wrong or wonky because I've practiced a lot at drawing the figure from life. If you understand how something should be drawn then you better understand how to stylise and alter it in a believable way. It's not usually something that artists consciously do for the most part, after a while it's just a habit you get into over time. As a fair warning though it does take most people a lot of time to reach that stage but if done well you can create good looking work but even learn how to use the body as a way to do things like emote.

I wish I had time to sketch out some better examples but I'm a little swamped this morning. I hope I explained this at least reasonably well.
