find a method of art practice/creation that you enjoy.

maybe you really like sketching but you force yourself to finish things you don't care about. because you're convinced it's the right thing to do. maybe you actually really want to finish things, but only doodle and do studies because you feel as if you're not good enough to be finishing anything. or maybe your ego is constantly berating you, unseating your focus and joy with unhelpful inner feelings like "shouldn't we be doing something else?" and the like.

unfortunately i'm pissing in the dark, there are a plethora of brainworms that can afflict artists, but you need to identify them and destroy them. i really recommend checking out steven zapata's drawing meditation vids on youtube, he talks a lot about joy in art and about various mental blocks that can get in the way of enjoying the practice.

That's a good approach, but it's easy for memory/imagination drawing to also become mentally compartmentalized/classified as grinding fundies. Note that this isn't necessarily bad and it's better than sitting around waiting for inspiration or whatever to come.
But you can still end up trapped in the boring floating subject grind zone for weeks, months and even years, even if a lot of it is from imagination/memory. Again, not necessarily bad but something to be mindful of.

Before someone inevitably calls me a crab I'm not against grinding fundies, just saying that it's good to avoid getting trapped for months and years in a grind mindset without actually making anything that has value, be it as an item in a portfolio or as something to share with others, or even just personal value.

Picrel at the end of the day I suppose.
