Like your style and bulkiness of the characters. But In case of drawing popular and distinctive characters their stylization and their traits should be clearly apparent and strictly followed. Case and point - your Yoshi looks like TMNT without eye strap.

Can't help with color and details distribution because I don't know it myself but very important to remember about line weight at very least (especially do not draw details like violet blumps with flat lines).
