I'm trying to, but they all just seem like symbols of shapes and planes when I draw them, like somebody just drew them on top of a basketball instead of them being 3D extrusions and indentations.

Okay so I drew more lines around the ball. How do I know these lines are correct (because they don't look like it)? How do I evenly place lines across a sphere, in perspective and at an angle?

What on earth does this mean anyway? Does a figure study from a photograph count or does it have to be 'live' real-life?
