Well yeah, no shit it takes time. It can take 5 years even decades to get to a pretty good level, that's because art is just too damn complicated. As I stated previously even the best artists had to go through a lot of hardships to get to where they are now, my point is that you are not alone in this.
If you don't want to spend "wasted years" grinding then give up now. But if you want to actually make it, then draw for about 3/5 hours a day, and within years you will see progress. It's not fair that we have to spend so long studying our art, but that's just the way it is. Even the best med students have to study for 7-12 hours a day and even then it takes them about 10 years or longer to get to a high level, we are just human we have limits.
