Oh I hate Loomis. I just start with the ball and I scribble out the forms. When it's off, I correct it.

The problem with the Loomis method is that it's too rigid. Most of the time, an artist's underdrawing is loose and scribbly, and you slowly refine it layer after layer. Only advanced artists can "one shot" a perfect Loomis head without correcting it. If you watch Finch's video, his is very rough too.

It's better to just do studies to learn heads (which is what you're doing, and that's great) I learned head drawing mostly when I was doing figure drawing (like pic related), and I'd just copy the head from the figure. Drawing the head thousands of times, from many angles, is the only way to develop fluency in head drawing (imo).

Knowing the skull really well is also important, and those skull studies of yours are great. I think you're going in the right direction.
