Not sure if you are talking about me, but learnign the anatomy of the face/head is very helpful when it comes to stylizing, you don't need to go that hard on it tho, you should be able to understand the major planes like eyesocjkets' nose bridge, cheekbones etc.. these are pretty easy too, once you know that learning what is being stylized is way more easy. i cant draw realistic shit tho.

i.e on the right the chibi looks like 2 balls overlapping, but is actually a bit more complex if you can understand what's being stylized: nose bridge almost flat, small nose , no chin, small cheekbone, eyesockets almost flat. If you know that, drawing that face from diffrent angles is much more easy and it looks more realistic not in a stylized way. the one at the botton is like my default anime/loomis head not really the style i want but just as a default style that is easy to understand and practice but it still follows the real human anatomy, but stylized , it doesnt look that hard/complex but actually theres a lot going on(redline).

I stole the picture in the left(green aired girl), as you can see theres some pretty obvious mistakes there, and theres other heads in the same angle but the style is different but both still follow the basic anatomy shit, you can see the eyesockets form, the way the draw the corner in the left eye to give that depth, curve of the cheekbone and the chin bulge and the angle of the eyes and if you want to go further the orientation and form of the eyelashes, eyebrows distance in relation to the eyes. Those things are more easier to spot/understand with some real anatomy bg.
