Before you look into 'shading' you should work on your construction. Draw a box has a section about drawing insects. Read and apply.
Since I'm not an asshole I included a page about applying light and shadow/ values if you think you don't need construction for whatever reason. (It's from Hampton's book. I added some notes for you.)
