Ok this is a but long to explain for this board but I'll try.

The center of gravity/center of weight is the point where the body's balance point is. If that is not properly supported by something it will fall over easy to understand right. What is important to get with a standing pose is that it is roughly balanced otherwise it will convey the effect that it is in motion, which is not wrong but that is for moving falling poses, if the body is in motion then it doesn't need to be supported of course, The key is to arrange the body in a way that it is standing balanced without falling over (Unless you are aiming for that).

On the feet, this is a perspective question. The rules goes that the rather you are from the horizon line the more you see shape's base in the case of a cylinder this is a circle, in the case of feet it is a the soles. The angle of the soles compared to the body is an indicator of how far you are from the person because the closer you are the steeper the perspective gets. Making the feel angle more down gives of the feeling of being closer provided you adjust the body's perspective to it and can draw the eyes to the focal point of the body. You can try this if you have full body mirror stand close and then stand far and look at your feet and look at how the angle changes as your perceive the ground in the mirror the closer you move the more steep the angle will be. The exaggerated perspective can give it a more 3d feel but that is not necessarily needed or accurate.
