I always wanted to start seriously with that book, but everytime I see the example images it gives me the sensation that everything is oversaturated with wrinkles and there is better ways to draw clothing folds.

Is the book really that good or I should aim to something more simplistic? Or maybe the idea is get that theory and stylize it yourself?

This is what a master looks like to me.

I like Dave Rapoza, Wang, Ruan Jia, and the rest that you posted, but they're not at the skill level of, say Jabłoński, Kolesov or Quentin de Warren. For me, that complete understanding of being able to add less and yet achieve more is what mastery means.

A bridge between the old masters and digital painting. I love highly contrasted and fun concept art as much as the next guy, but the fellows you mentioned (as amazing as they may be) are not the highest you can achieve.
