idk man, i plateaued for a while when I studied Vilppu, and I only broke through that plateau when I forced myself to copy references accurately. In fact, vilppu has a chapter on measuring in his book.

In the end, I think I've decided that copying accurately and not editing what you're seeing is the best way to draw from life. Of course, if all you want to draw are anime heads, with realistic bodies, then you don't need to copy the heads.
