the thicker the fabric the more reluctant it will be to change its form, and so it will have fewer folds and will not be flat against the object, it will wrap around the object as one big chunk and the folds will tend to be rigid rather than straight. Also, the thicker the fabric the the heavier it will be. Because of its weight, it will be pulled in a straight direction towards the ground and will not taper as much as the thin fabric. Hope what I said make some sense...
